Hello Christmas Eve. I'm back at it. I lost sight that the point of this project wasn't to be perfect, it was just to keep learning.

A beautiful reminder of July.

Googly eyes are the best. I've come so close to throwing this guy out so many times but I don't have the heart. Maybe I should re-gift him this Christmas.

After having one of these eagles pass right over my head it settled a little too far away for my zoom. Next time.

I know high noon is not the best light to take photos, but I couldn't resist after so many gray days. Shine on sun!

Today is my first official "cheat". This photo was taken on my 10/365 day. Tess (my dog) had a very scary seizure early this morning and I haven't felt much like taking pictures today.

The ferry dock at Brentwood Bay. Considering buying a lens hood to help with the flare.

This is a quickie snapped with my iPad at the Commonwealth Pool in Victoria. I have such admiration for these young divers.

Today's photo was supposed to be of a horse in the morning sunshine just outside of the building where I do Monday yoga. After class I walked around to the paddock and the horse had one look at my camera, said "nuh nuh", ran to the other side of the field and hid behind a tree. Next week I'm going to use my ninja skills to sneak up on it ... or bring some apples and carrots.

With the end of daylight savings it was getting dark early and I was starting to panic that I might have to take a photo inside (yikes). I brought my camera along on a dog walk just as the light was failing and found this pumpkin that ate too much Halloween candy.

Already learning that I've got to set the aperture a little higher to get all of the right side in focus.

“So many fail because they don't get started - they don't go. They don't overcome inertia. They don't begin.”

... and so I'm beginning. In efforts to improve my photography skills, and capture some of the beauty around me I've committed to take a photo a day for the next 365 days ... one photo, one day, one year. Phew, there I said it aloud.

These images might come from my DSLR, my snappy camera, my phone or my iPad. I'm not going to raise the bar too high too fast. As a newbie photographer I hope to learn a little along the way, and be able to look back at my progress next Halloween and see how far I've come.
